Arbor Dale Presbyterian Church is a part of the universal Body of Christ that seeks to spread the love, grace, and mercy of Jesus Christ. We do this by spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed. This work is done in many different ways including the following ministries in whom we support with volunteers and with financial support:

Locally
Reaching Avery Ministries PO Box 234 - Newland, NC 28657 - 733-5095 This ministry exists to show Christ in action by serving with compassion, love and concern all those in need of food, clothing or other emergency assistance.
Hospice of Avery County PO Box 1357 - Newland, NC 28657 - 733-0363 This non-profit organization provides end of life care with nurses and chaplains for patients and their families.
Hebron Colony Ministries, Inc. 356 Old Turnpike Rd. Boone, NC 28607 This ministry is a Christian treatment center for men utilizing a 10 week program.
High Country Prison Chaplain c/o Terry Edwards, Treasurer PO Box 161 Crossnore, NC 28616 This ministry is a group of churches and individuals that banned together to support a full-time Christian chaplain for the Avery / Mitchell Correctional Facility.
Avery County Habitat for Humanity PO Box 1016 Newland, NC 28657 - 733-1909 We are a covenant church with this ministry that provides affordable housing to those in need.
Avery Association for Exceptional Citizens (Yellow Mountain Enterprises) PO Box 548, 255 Estatoa Ave. Newland, NC 28657 - 733-2944 This non-profit organization is dedicated to the promotion of positive life experiences and training opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities.
Life Care Patient Ministry PO Box 2199 Banner Elk, NC 28604 - 898-5136 This organization is a home for the elderly who need special care. Our support helps to provide Christmas gifts for the patients that have no family.
Gideons International – Avery Gideon Camp c/o Cecil Crawford 344 Tumbling Brook Dr. Banner Elk, NC 28604 (828) 898-9827 This ministry provides Bibles and personal witness to area hotels, resorts, and doctors’ offices. They provide New Testaments to graduates of Mayland Tech, Less-McRae, and Avery High School.
Sweetwater Springs Biblical Counseling Center 51 Trice Fork Mountain Rd Newland, NC 28657 - 737-0805 This ministry provides non-denominational Biblical counseling support to families needing help in Avery County and the surrounding areas. It is a work of faith and no fee is charged to those who come for help.
ACADA PO Box 1645 Newland, NC 28657 - 733-3512 This is a non-profit organization committed to breaking the cycle of violence, abuse and sexual assault in Avery County. They provide a 24 hour crisis line, a safe shelter, educational programs, and court advocacy.

Internationally
Grace Mission – Haiti This group sends missionaries down to Haiti to help provide needed medical assistance as well as sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Barbara Nagy She is a full-time medical missionary in Malawi, Africa. She is fully funded by the Presbyterian Churches of Western North Carolina. Needy Children’s Fund Through this ministry our congregation sponsors a girl in Chile.
Short term mission trips
Our congregation has supported various members who have gone on short term trips to Alaska, Haiti, and China.
Other Areas
Our congregation also takes up the “5 cents per meal” offering every other month that goes to special projects and hunger relief in our region and overseas. We also take up the “One Great Hour of Sharing” offering on Easter Sunday that primarily goes to Church World Services. During Christmas time we take part in the Christmas Shoe Box effort of Samaritan’s Purse as well as an Adopt-a-Family program that provides Christmas gifts for families in need. We also take part in the Relay for Life and Crop Walk. We minister to our members through a Help Fund and the providing of meals, cards and flowers in times of need.
