Job Opportunities

What follows is a collection of job descriptions.  These various descriptions have been developed to create flexibility in the process of searching for the right person or right people to serve at Arbor Dale.  Any person or couple might fit one of these or all of these different positions.  Trusting in the power of the Lord to do more than we might expect or imagine, we want to be open to how you might fit in these different positions or help us create the right structure that will allow God’s people to serve freely and faithfully.  So consider these various descriptions as a starting point for conversation and discernment.

Worship Leader

Arbor Dale Presbyterian Church is searching for a disciple of Jesus who can help lead our congregation in worship.  Ideally, this person would have a love for a wide variety of music, vocal skills, and play an instrument.  The best candidate will have an interest in building a team as well as an appreciation for worship in the wider Reformed tradition.  

 

The Worship Leader would work directly with the pastor under the supervision of the session and would have responsibility for:

  1. All aspects of music during Sunday worship;

  2. Helping coordinate the different elements of worship beginning with the call to worship leading all the way to the benediction to ensure depth and harmony and beauty;

  3. Calling members of the congregation to offer their voices and their gifts in worship;

  4. Thinking creatively about how music can play a part in discipling members during the week as well as inspiring them in mission.

This is a part-time position of 7-10 hours per week. Salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.  We currently have a piano player who is eager to be a team member.  

Director of Youth Ministries

Arbor Dale Presbyterian Church is searching for a disciple of Jesus who can help our church community form youth into disciples.  This person must have a vibrant and growing faith in the risen Jesus and a passion for connecting to and serving with youth, both high school and middle school students.
 

The Director of Youth Ministries would work directly with the pastor under the supervision of the session and would have responsibility for:

  1. Building relationships with students during church, youth activities and outside the scheduled meeting times including students currently in the church and those who are not in the church;

  2. Recruit, supervise, and lead the ministry teams that work with the high school and middle school student ministry.  This includes training, planning, prayer and encouragement; 

  3. Have final responsibility for all youth ministry programming, including Sunday Schools, retreats and special events. 

This is a part time position of 12-20 hours per week.  Salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.  

Pastoral Resident

Arbor Dale Presbyterian Church is searching for pastoral residents who could join in the mission of the church to serve youth, help lead worship, and provide technology support as they grow in their faith and in their sense of calling.  

 

Arbor Dale Presbyterian Church is committed to making and forming disciples including young adult disciples who sense a call to ministry.  As an expression of that commitment, Arbor Dale is seeking pastoral residents.  This opportunity will allow participants to grow in community while they learn to lead worship, read scripture with others, serve youth and catch a vision of the pastoral craft. 

The landscape of training for the next generation of leaders in the church has been in flux. Many seminaries are changing their mission and methods.  As this happens people who are interested in serving the church face challenges and opportunities.  How can I learn and grow and do that in a meaningful way with others?  How can I take seminary classes online and not feel like I am preparing for ministry on my own? This program will seek to address these questions through practical experience, guided study, and mentoring within the ongoing life of a vital congregation.   

 

The Pastoral Resident would work directly with the pastor under the supervision of the session and would have responsibility for:

  1. Participating in the weekly Sunday service through leading the congregation in prayer and liturgy.  An interest in music and leading worship in song would be an asset.  

  2. Participating in small group Bible studies twice a week.

  3. Leading the church youth group (6th-12th grade)

  4. Preaching once a month or once a quarter depending on the interest of the
    person hired.

  5. Being a conversation partner with Tee as he prepares to preach, lead worship and shape the congregation.

  6. Explore possibilities for formal theological education in partnership with the church.

Qualifications & Requirements

  1. Completion of a Bachelor degree.

  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  3. Ability to operate independently, innovate, and solve problems.

  4. Ability to honor confidential and sensitive information.

  5. A commitment to standing as a moral representative of the church community.

  6. Two year commitment.

Compensation & Benefits

  1. This position is benefits-eligible.

  2. Salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.

Communications Coordinator

Arbor Dale Presbyterian Church is seeking a Communications Coordinator who can create, organize, plan, and implement effective communications across different mediums. This person will be responsible for maintaining the church web-site, facilitating church wide communication, posting podcasts and maintaining social media accounts.  

 

The Communications Coordinator would work directly with the pastor under the supervision of the session and would have responsibility for:

 

  1. Maintain the church website and social media accounts;

  2. Help produce video of worship for remote access during Covid;

  3. Post podcast of sermons;

  4. Manage membership contact information;

  5. Facilitate church communication.

  6. Help with any marketing opportunities.

 

This is a part-time position of 3-5 hours per week. Salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.
